Organic Groups
As discussed at the meeting on Tuesday, I am planning on giving a presentation on Organic Groups for the next Drupal Atlanta meeting (I guess, tentatively scheduled for April 17th).
I have been an og user for over a year now, but I am *way* back on the 4.6 version. I could probably go on for hours about the module, but I want to keep it pretty high level. My plan was just to discuss what it does and why you might need it and point out a few cool capabilities it would give you. I'll probably put together a small demo site to show some stuff off. Since the core theory behind OG hasn't changed much since 4.6, this will keep it within my realm of expertise as well.
I'd be happy to go into more detail if anyone has specific questions or plans for it. Anyone? Any specific OG topics you'd like me to hit?

My interest in using organic
My interest in using organic groups is for groups of small organizations which together comprise large organizations. For example, local chapters that together comprise a larger national, or international organization. I want to be able to use OG to establish chapter websites on the main Web site, so that each chapter can create their own content, implement their own functionality, such as mailing lists, forums, etc, but also easily access the (inter)national content.
So when local visitors visit their chapter web site, they can view their local content, but also easily view the national content.
I'm also wondering if it is possible to have the local visitors register using the registration page of their local chapter, but then allow the national organization to send email newsletters, etc to each chapters mailing list. Would this need to be done by selecting each chapter mailing list, or can OG mailing list be also fed into larger (inter) national mailing list??
*Also how to set up OG home pages and contact forms.
*Also, what is the overlap/difference between CIVICspace and OG?
If I implement CiviCRM, what pieces of OG can I eliminate?
For some, these might be considered advanced topics, but this an overview of where I am headed with OG. I'd appreciate you addressing any of these issues you feel you can fit into your presentation.
